Y6: work on the easier content now. Ensure written methods (but not long division at this stage – if not grasped it yet then it is too late for next week). Look at requirements from year 3 & 4. Check out parallel and perpendicular lines (& line symmetry) in capital letters.
Check out the document about instruction questions on my ‘Free Resources’ page.
KS2 SATs – the last push… give the children a Maths vocabulary list and ask them to discuss meanings, write them into word problems and find any they don’t know. Make sure they understand the meaning of BOTH and EACH.
Do you want lesson study/demonstration in your school, by someone with years (yes, I am old) of experience? Get in touch. It’s one thing reading about how to teach Maths. But to really understand techniques (CPA, AFL & progression) they should be demonstrated. Schools in Bradford that use me for teaching with and for teachers include Green Lane, Atlas, Margaret McMillan, Bowling Park, Eldwick and Horton Park. The Ellis in Barnsley and Calverley C of E have also used me in this capacity. It is a very powerful model. Ask them, if you don’t believe me. NQTs and RQTs particularly benefit.
